"I have but one candle of life to burn, and I would rather burn it out in a land filled with darkness than in a land flooded with light."
John Keith Falconer
The most important thing you could know about me is that I have been redeemed by the blood of Christ. Apart from that, you should probably know I am a rebel. I wholeheartedly believe that each person was created with purpose; that we are not meant for the ordinary, but the extraordinary. I believe that if we but ask, God will give us life and life abundant.
God stirred this passion in my heart at a young age, filling me with dissatisfaction for the mediocre and giving me a burning desire for a radical life of faith. He gave me the courage to ask Him to show me the purpose He had in mind when He made me. The journey He has lead me on since then is more awesome than anything I could have imagined.
God created me with a desire to minister healing to the hurting and broken. Even at a young age I was the first to be on the scene trying to help someone if they were hurt. God fused that with a passion for motherhood, pregnancy, and new life, calling me to be a midwife.
A few years later, while on a mission trip in Peru, He broke my heart for souls held captive by darkness and filled me with a desire to show them the Light. Then He told me to go to the ends of the earth and make disciples.
How do the two combine? The work of the gospel is and always will be #1. Midwifery is simply a vehicle for the gospel and a way for the love of Christ to be ministered to people in a tangible way. It is a means by which mothers can be saved from untimely death and infants preserved for greatness. As a midwife, I am called not just to make sure that mothers and their babies live, but that they live to hear the Gospel so that they may have Life and life abundant.
