"I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." John 10:10
Current Location: Northern Mexico
A land of rugged beauty and even more rugged realities for those who live there.
People Group: Unreached
I am currently serving an unreached people group indigenous to the Northern Mexico. The population of this people is estimated to be around 50,000-70,000 strong, though it is hard to conduct an accurate census as they live scattered throughout the region. When the Spanish began their attempts to conquer the people, it is said they fled deeper into the mountains and valleys for solace. They have since remained isolated, largely evading outside influence and retaining much of their traditonal culture, practices, and language.
Strategy: Life Support
Living in isolation has protected the people and their way of life, but at high cost. Without access to modern advances in farming, sanitation, and healthcare they remain plagued by poverty, malnutrition, sickness, and high maternal and infant mortality rates. Most importantly though, they are largely unreached by the gospel. The little exposure they have had to Christianity has become entwined with animism and is riddled with misunderstanding, resulting in a warped belief system void of hope.
The Strategy: to meet them where they are at by ministering healing to their bodies, understanding and supporting their needs in daily life and most importantly, sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
